Smiley Lewis (1913 - !966), cantor e guitarrista americano de R&B de Nova Orleans. Ficou conhecido como o homem mais azarado de Nova Orleans. Ele encontrou uma fórmula para bandas pequenas de Rock lento como 'The Bells Are Ringing' e 'I Hear You Knocking' apenas para Fats Domino que veio atrás dele com uma música semelhante, com uma entrega mais insinuante. Lewis foi praticamente eclipsado por Domino.
Elvis Presley's, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Dave Edmuns e diversos grupos ingleses dos 60 fizeram sucesso com versões de sua música, enquanto nenhum dos singles de Lewis vendeu mais de 100.000 cópias
