The Big Bopper (Jiles Perry "J.P." Richardson Jr., foi um músico e disc jockey americano. Suas composições mais conhecidas incluem "Chantilly Lace", "Running Bear" e "White Lightning", esta última tornou-se o primeiro hit número um de George Jones em 1959. Big Bopper morreu em um acidente de avião em Clear Lake, Iowa em 1959, junto com os colegas músicos Buddy Holly e Ritchie Valens.
